Over 125 representing a diverse array of music industry professionals joined Digital Music NY for the monthly business networking meet up on June 22nd. We will be posting more pictures as well as further information on the next event at www.playthemusic.biz and in the Musicdish.net newsletter. As always, attendees of the Digital Music NY event took a few minutes to make their news announcements to the crowd including announcements from uPlaya, Rockethub, Musaic Management, Caral Lynn Hall and Dave Ahl. Here's a quick summary of the announcements and Q&A presentation on music in China.
- Reggie of Music Intelligence Solutions introduced Uplaya, a service site that uses patent-approved technology to offer artists, songwriters, fans, social networks, mobile subscribers, and leading media companies a powerful new way to create, experience, share, and discover music and visual media. The services such as Hit Song ScienceTM and Music UniverseTM enable proprietary discovery, automated programming, commercial market prediction, and community networking capabilities.
- Rockethub (www.rockethub.com) announced their crowdfunding community website, created specifically to help connect Creatives with the Fuelers (supporters) who can bring their projects to life. - Following the success of her recent ‘Engage Your Fans’ webinar, Carla Lynn Hall (www.carlalynnehall.com) introduced attendees to her series of webinars, each discussing the best ways to market music online will continue.
- Musaic Management (www.musaicmngt.com) announced that they are looking for more supporters for the Legend Factory Live event on August 12. Interested parties can contact CEO Amanda Chavis at 212.845.9079 ext.801

Ahl also announced that the film, which has already become a top-grossing hit throughout Asia, will be distributed in the U.S. by the Weinstein Company.
This month’s Q&A featured host Eric De Fontenay interviewing recording artist Tomas Doncker along with 88tc88 representative Robert Singerman. The discussion began with issues arising at the recent Music Matters conference, but with Doncker’s upcoming ‘Small Worlds’ album release and a planned tour in China, discussion moved on to the sizeable potential of the Chinese music market as well as the considerable challenges to breaking Western music into it. An excellent recap of the interview can be found at http://abovethestatic.wordpress.com/2010/06/25/notes-from-digital-music-ny-62210/
