Nissan India allies with Orix, Zoomcar on its car subscription model

Automobile major, Nissan Motor India has recently collaborated with car rental company Zoomcar and financial services firm Orix for its new vehicle subscription program – Nissan Intelligent Ownership model.

The car subscription model is said to offer customers with FASTag, standard accessories, and pick-up and drop facilities along with coverage for all maintenance costs like scheduled and unscheduled repairs, cost of paperwork, registration fee, 24x7 roadside assistance, tire and battery replacement, zero devaluation insurance, road tax, and RTO expenses.

Rakesh Srivastava, Managing Director of Nissan Motor India, said that customers could subscribe to Nissan vehicle models available in the country, including Nissan Magnite and Nissan Kicks. He said that customers' lifestyle is gradually evolving, and this approach brought forward by Nissan, Zoomcar and Orix will enable them to save more and spend less.

Greg Moran, Zoomcar CEO & Co-Founder, commented that customers would be offered flexible subscriptions as a substitute for vehicle ownership with this initiative. It will make it affordable, easy, and quick for people to gain a personal mobility choice, exclusively owing to the coronavirus pandemic.

Mr. Moran added, Zoomcar aims to focus on adding business partners like Nissan to its industry-leading vehicle subscription-based enterprise software program at a global level.

Sandeep Gambhir, Orix Auto Infrastructure Services’ Managing Director and CEO, said that customers increasingly prefer personalized and customized mobility solutions with a flexible ownership option over traditional automobile ownership methods.

They are certain that the subscription model’s flexibility and simplicity will check all the appropriate boxes in consumers' minds, allowing more and more customers to drive Nissan vehicle.

It is vital to note that through this model Nissan is also offering a Share-Back option which allows customers to list the vehicle that are not in use on Zoomcar's short-term rental platform.

Incidentally, a similar feature was offered by Zoomcar under its own car subscription programme.

Sources claim that Nissan’s car subscription program is available in Indian cities of Delhi NCR, Pune, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Chennai.
