Beauty brand M·A·C Cosmetics, beauty tech solutions provider Perfect Corp. and online sampling platform SoPost have reportedly inked a partnership to create a first-of-its-kind customized product sampling experience. Designed for the iconic Studio Fix Fluid Foundation from M·A·C Cosmetics, the unique experience brings together the convenience of home-delivered physical product sampling with custom AI-based shade matching and hyper-realistic AR virtual try-on.

The full-circle experience, tailored to individual customers, will bridge the gap between the physical and digital in the beauty industry, enabling brands and their consumers to make more accurate sampling and buying decisions.

CEO and Founder of Perfect Corp., Alice Chang, has commented on the company’s excitement at partnering with SoPost and M·A·C Cosmetics to combine physical product sampling with virtual product discovery and create a next-gen experiential journey of product discovery for consumers. According to Chang, consumers continue to view sampling as an important step in the purchasing process. She also reiterated the company’s anticipation to use AR virtual try-on and AI as a way for M·A·C customers to find their best foundation shade match, boost their confidence in purchase decisions and simultaneously aid companies in better distribution of physical samples.

According to Jonathan Grubin, CEO and Founder of SoPost, the growth of virtual try-on is an ongoing trend, with the company showing excitement at collaborating with Perfect Corp. and M.A.C to take customer experiences a step ahead with in-home sample delivery.

The virtual sampling experience is set to launch initially for M·A·C Cosmetics’ best-selling Studio Fix Fluid Foundation in the UK. Offering over 80,000 foundation samples, M·A·C Cosmetics, SoPost and Perfect Corp. will combine AR-based virtual try-on and physical product sample delivery to consumers’ doorsteps for a more personalized and tailored customer sampling experience. SoPost, on the behalf of M·A·C Cosmetics, will follow up with consumers for feedback on the product sampling experience, in order to gain valuable consumer insights and drive them towards specific purchase points online.
