Supersocial, a United States-headquartered gaming firm that creates games for the gaming platform Roblox, has reportedly secured more than $5.2 million through a seed funding round.
According to the game developing and publishing firm, It intends to utilize the funds to create unique metaverse experiences for gamers. Supersocial also disclosed that Warner Music Group (WMG) was one investors that participated in the seed funding.
This new development supposedly comes ten months after WMG made an investment in Roblox as a part of a Series H financing round that raised over $520 million.
The company’s seed investment round was led by prominent tech investor, Initial Capital with participation from Marc Benioff owned TIME Ventures, Griffin Gaming Partners, Powerhouse Capital (investors in MasterClass, Calm), Aream & Co, LightShed Ventures (investors in Cameo, Genvid), and renowned angel investors.
Supersocial was established by entrepreneurs Pedro Romi (CFO) and Yonatan Raz-Fridman (CEO), who previously established successful venture-backed Internet and consumer technology firms Retroca and Kano, respectively, were joined by co-founders Tatiana Wlasek as Vice President of Marketing & People Experience and Luiza Justus as Creative Director.
The firm is presently working on a number of titles on the Roblox platform, including the popular Ghostopia experience, which is a RPG multiplayer game.
The company also established Supersocial Labs, an extension of the "cell" idea in smartphone games that is customized to metaverse platforms such as Roblox.
This bespoke Supersocial division hires Roblox developers and engages them to create experiences in short development cycles while providing funding, operational knowledge, support, and infrastructure to effectively help creators bring novel games to life.
Yon Raz-Fridman, CEO of Supersocial, stated that it is inspirational for both the firm and the metaverse's future when such astute business professionals can see the vision that one wants to go toward and help them carve the path.
Supersocial envisions creating environments that exemplify its approach to life in the metaverse, not just ‘games’. The experience and relationships of the company’s benefactors are just as significant to it as any financial bottom line.
The company’s Labs division is apparently working on a number of games, all of which are scheduled to be launched in the near future.
