American global information technology entity- Unisys has reportedly announced the acquisition of Unify Square- a Bellevue Wash-headquartered startup for USD 152.5 million in cash. Established in the year 2008, Unify Sq. aims at helping companies manage collaboration and communication software program which is comparable to the Microsoft 365, Microsoft Groups, as well as videotelephony software program- Zoom.
For the record, Unify has nearly 200 employees across its offices in Bellevue, Germany, Switzerland, the UK, India, Australia, and Lithuania. Some of its leading clients include Barclays, Unilever, Financial Institution of Eire, REI, and Stanford College.
According to John Case, CEO of Unify Square, both Unisys and Unify Square carry a similar goal of helping firms to adapt to the actuality of a hybrid workforce.
It is worth noting that Unify Square has experience in migration and SaaS tools known as PowerSuite that focuses on user-related issues and diagnoses them for the IT team.
According to Leon Gilbert, Senior VP and General Manager of Digital Workplace Service business, Unisys, firms today are seeking to enhance user experience. Unify Square technology and services can address these issues and improve user experience of various technologies.
Gilbert added that it has been nearly ten years since Unisys made any acquisition. Although the sale of the company’s federal business to SAIC- also a global solutions provider, and a consequent paydown of its debt, encouraged the acquisition decision.
In other news, in May 2021, an international airline consortium that operates to and from Australia inked a six-year contract with Unisys to offer an advanced Baggage Reconciliation System at seven international airports across the region, namely- Perth, Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney, Gold Coast, Adelaide, and Cairns. Based in Blue Bell, Unisys recorded revenues worth USD 509 million during the latest fiscal quarter.
